It all began in the spring of 2021 at Texas Southern University. We were both transfer students, finding our place on campus while balancing full schedules and new beginnings.

Melody had recently crossed into Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and was juggling academics, sisterhood, and her role as a cheerleader. Blake was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, serving as a Residential Assistant while completing an internship at Houston Methodist Hospital.

On April 19, 2021, Blake attended the Residential Life and Housing Pageant in his role as an RA. Melody took the stage as a contestant. The moment she stepped into the spotlight, Blake saw her in person for the first time and instantly knew there was something special about her.

Not long after, a message was sent that neither of us expected:

“I think you’re cute.”

What started as a bold DM quickly turned into late-night conversations, shared experiences, and a love that felt effortless from the very beginning. Blake’s consistency and intentionality transformed a simple message into something steady, meaningful, and destined.

We officially began dating on May 30, 2021. From that day forward, we grew together through undergrad and graduate school, supporting each other’s ambitions and celebrating life’s milestones side by side. Along the way, we were honored to be recognized as Texas Southern’s Best Couple, but our favorite title has always simply been “us.”

On June 25, 2024, Blake asked for forever, and of course, Melody said yes.

On August 8, 2025, just before Melody deployed, we quietly said “I do” and officially became The Meltons. It was an intimate and intentional moment—one we will cherish for a lifetime.

Now, on October 11, 2026, we are beyond excited to gather with our family and friends to celebrate our love and this next chapter together.

What began with a simple message has grown through faith, friendship, and purpose, and continues to flourish as a lifelong partnership.

From sliding in the DMs to standing hand in hand as husband and wife, we are and will always be #MELTONINLOVE.
